Water based gel or lotion is placed on the ultrasound probe and gently moves from your collarbone area to your jawline while a survey of your abdomen including your liver, pancreas, gallbladder, kidneys, spleen, aorta and IVC is completed. It is a painless examination that is performed fully clothed, exposing your stomach from your sternum to your bellybutton, with your abdomen draped to protect your clothing.
